Hamlet’s eyes were filled with tears. He was filled with sadness from his toes to his ears.
His mom knew exactly how he felt. She remembered the loss of her first pet making her heart melt.
She told him, “Hamlet, from all the years since I’ve grown, I’ve learned it’s ok to be sad, but you shouldn’t suffer alone.”
The replacement pig nudged his side. Hamlet looked down at him, still teary-eyed. But the pig just looked at him and smiled, And something about him seemed so beguiled.
Hamlet realized that this new pig was a friend, And that he would help his heart mend, So he gave him a hug That was heart-filled and snug.
Hamlet was now able to accept the fact That King Hammy would never come back. His new friend helped him through his grief, Even after he was in disbelief.
