  • We brought our ships here along the coast so the Redcoats can’t flee and use their navy.
  • On September 28, 1781, George Washington and French General, Comtede Rochambeau, commanded a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops to defeat the British and their general, Lord Charles Cornwallis.

  • Let’s defeat the British once and for all.
  • It’s time.
  • The French helped the Colonists by supplying them with necessary aid, cannons, gunpowder, shoes, and clothes for the battle.

  • The French brought in ships so the British wouldn't escape and use their navy. The french are also against the British because they both tried to gain power and more land in the American Colonies.
  • No sir. It is my pleasure to help you defeat the British. Besides, the British are our mortal enemies.
  • The American Colonists and the French were ready to go to war. They are putting an end to this rivalry.
  • Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British at Yorktown. The French losses were less severe. The French lost only 209 casualties and 2 ships damaged while the British lost nearly 350 with 6 ships damaged.
