  • Rome invaded Sicily which started the first Punic war. The first Punic war started in 264 B.C. The first war lasted for 20 years. Rome captured Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica.

  • Hannibal and his troops attacked Saguntum but when Saguntum fell, the second Punic war started . Rome defeated Hannibal in the war but Carthage was still allowed to keep it's territory.

  • Carthage rebelled against Roman rules which started the third Punic war. In the war, Rome destroys Carthage.

  • There one was an an island called Sicily. Both Carthage and Rome wanted control of Sicily. Sicily was a beautiful island.
  • Rome destroyed Carthage. The Romans built ships to help during the war. Rome became the most powerful force. Rome defeated Carthage everywhere except in Italy.
  • Carthage had to move somewhere else to find another trading center and they ended up choosing Spain which they had to give up later on. Carthage was forced to leave Sicily. In the beginning, Carthage was just as powerful as Rome.
