Joshua Glover was one day working on a farm and he got a brilliant idea. He was going to steal himself from his master.
Joshua Glover ran all the way to Wisconsin from Mississippi with the slave catchers hot on his tail.
When he reached Wisconsin he found a job at a rice mill and their he worked to have enough money to buy property of his own.
3 years later U.S. Marshal Cotton and his men came to Joshua Glover's door with his arrest warrant. They threw him into the Milwaukee jail and that is where he stayed for a little bit.
When Milwaukee found out that their was a slave in their jail they where mad because Wisconsin was a free country they broke him out.
They threw him in a wagon of a messenger and that is where he started his journey in the Underground Railroad.
