Polyphemus was perched on the edge of a cliff dreaming of the surrounding deep blue Mediterranean Sea, when his father, Poseidon, Lord of the Sea, appears from underwater.
Poseidon tells Polyphemus that a sailor will soon wash up on the shore of his island. He makes a promise to restore Polyphemus' eyesight if he helps this stranger.
Soon, my son, a visitor will be shipwrecked on the shore of your island. If you help him, I will restore your eyesight.
Poseidon sends a storm to Odysseus' boat and he is shipwrecked on the island of Polyphemus.
Polyphemus wanders the shores of his island and finds an unconscious sailor. Polyphemus brings the sailor back to his cave, unaware that the person he is helping caused his blindness.
I wonder who this could be?
Polyphemus cares for Odysseus, still unaware of who it is... until Odysseus wakes up and starts speaking.
Polyphemus is that you?
ODYSSEUS! My father sent Odysseus?
Polyphemus must decide whether to kill Odysseus or to help him.
