  • Loisel receives an invitation to a party that her husband worked hard for and she was dreaming about how nice it would be to be rich and to be at the top and is mad that she has the invitation because she thinks she has nothing to give for the party.
  • Climax
  • A young female in a setting in Paris, France named Madame Loisel desperately wants a better social life. She has a party she is going to go to but she thinks that she would look poor as she wouldn't have any jewels on the dress. 
  • Falling Action
  • She goes to the party and it wa a success as everyone thought that she looked nice and adored her. she had people commenting her on the diamond necklace around her neck and she loved the time being in a giant, beautiful ballroom.
  • Resolution
  •   After going to the party with the necklace she got from a friend named Madame Forestier, She loses the necklace after the party most likely in the cab they were in to go back home and they have to go back and retrace their steps to find the necklace.
  • They could not find the necklace and they had to buy a brand new one to replace the one they borrowed. They found the same necklace with a jeweler which the price turned out to be 36,000 francs. They couldn't quite afford it out of their pocket but they used Monsieur Loisel's inheritance and took a bunch of loans to replace the necklace they have borrowed from Forestier.
  • They had to live in poverty take more work for 10 more years. After they finally paid off their debts, Madame Loisel saw Forestier walking with a baby down the sidewalk. They talked for a little bit as Loisel told her friend what happened with the necklace. Her friend gasped at what happened and said that the necklace they borrowed was just paste and was only worth 500 francs. So it turned out that the Loisel's wasted 10 years of their life.
