  • Thank you! We will use this land to build a farm

  • Since we need money, we would like to sell you some land
  • Sure! We would love to buy the Louisiana territory
  • Mexican Cession
  • Yes, we will be taking this land, thank you.
  • Since you won, you could have all this land and much more
  • In 1862, Abraham Lincoln signed a law that any citizen could own 160 acres of land gained from the government, but they just had to pay a small fee and be occupying the land.
  • Oregon Territory
  • Thank you sir, we will have good use of it.
  • In 1803, the United States 828,000 square miles of land from France for 15 million dollars.
  • Texas Annexation
  • That's good, it expands out country.
  • Mexico gave up this land to the United States at the end of the Mexican war. The land was given through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago in 1848.

  • In 1846, the United States signed the Oregon treaty with Britain to settle the boundary dispute.

  • In 1853, the United States bought land from Mexico for 10 million dollars to continue building a railroad. This railroad linked the United States from east to west.
  • Good thing we bought this land for only 10 million dollars.
