  • Cuban Citizens Imprisoned - Thousands Killed!
  • The U.S.S. Maine has sunk!
  • Even though the Americans keep urging to go to war, President
  • We are NOT going to war!
  • The Cuban rebels used this tactic to make the American people favor them.
  • As a final attempt for peace, the U.S. makes a few demands to Spain:
  • I HAVE DEMANDS!
  • How did that happen?
  • December of 1898:
  • Finally!
  • Peace!
  • McKinley still won't go to war. Hooray! Peace is maintained!
  • As a part of the Treaty of Paris, the U.S. gains:
  • $ for U.S.S. Maine, end reconcentration camps, truce in Cuba + Cuban independence (No-#4)
  • The United States signs the Treaty of Paris with Spain. Cuban independence is finally recongnized!
  • 1. the Philippines 2. the island of Guam 3. Puerto Rico
  • I have good news! After signing the Treaty of Paris we gained three new territories!
