Storyboard Text

  • Today class, we will be learning about transitive and intransitive verbs.
  • Transitive verbs are action verbs that take a direct object, while intransitive verbs do not take a direct object.
  • So, do words or phrases ever follow intransitive verbs?
  • Yes, words can follow intransitive verbs. However, those words will never receive an action.
  • Now class, lets go over some examples.  The first sentence is: It rained. Transitive, or Intransitive?
  • So, do words or phrases ever follow intransitive verbs?
  • The sentence is intransitive because "It" is the subject and "rained" is the intransitive verb. There is no direct object.
