Storyboard Text

  • Proctor and Francis give Danforth the list of 91 people who they believe are good and not witches. Parris then says they should all be summoned. This is ironic because they were all said to be good, but now are all being questioned.
  • Giles told Danforth how he has never hired a lawyer in his life. He has gone 33 court cases, and he is always the plaintiff.
  • When Danforth arrested Giles, Giles got mad at Putnam and made a scene, and to Danforth, he was causing effrontery.
  • Marry Warren was being told to faint after she told the judge that all of the girls were pretending. They said that she should be able to faint since she did it before. This symbolizes hysteria because it shows how the girls were acting crazy when they all pretended to faint.
  • Danforth had Elizabeth come into court with Proctor and Abigail with their backs to her, and he asked her if Proctor cheated on her with Abigail. She lied and said no, thinking she would save Proctor. This is dramatic irony because we know they had an affair.
  • Abigail sees the "yellow bird", which is Mary's spirit. This is symbolism because the yellow bird symbolizes witchcraft.
