Storyboard Text

  • The year is 1620. We, pilgrims, are about to embark on a journey from England to the new land.
  • Put fish in with the corn seeds for it to grow taller.
  • Last year when we landed the winter was harsh, but since the Indians helped us we are going to have really good harvest.
  • The first Thanksgiving was a celebration in 1621 at the Plymouth Bay Colony because the pilgrims had their first successful harvest in the new world. The feast lasted 3 days and was shared by 90 Indians and 53 pilgrims.
  • In 1863, Abe Lincoln announced that Thanksgiving is to be a national holiday.
  • Thanksgiving is to be a national holiday celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November!
  • Thanksgiving was not celebrated a ton until things like the Macy's Day Parade in 1926 came about and commercialized it.
  • Thanksgiving may not be linked to cars directly, but if you think about you have to drive to the store for food. In the past everyone would meet in a central location, but with better transportation you can go wide and far to celebrate.
