  • This is a mostly accurate representation of a Native American Family in the 19th Century. A married man had responsibilities to his wife and children and to his mother’s family. Sometimes Indian women inherited positions as tribal rulers.
  • Tribal leaders were warriors, and much more. They lead their Tribes with confidence. In this picture, a Native American chief is with his horse, wearing a ceremonial feathered war bonnet.
