This is a mostly accurate representation of a Native American Family in the 19th Century. A married man had responsibilities to his wife and children and to his mother’s family. Sometimes Indian women inherited positions as tribal rulers.
Tribal leaders were warriors, and much more. They lead their Tribes with confidence. In this picture, a Native American chief is with his horse, wearing a ceremonial feathered war bonnet.
