Storyboard Text

  • The people of Israel ask Samuel for a king.
  • I will give you a king, but just so you know you are rejecting YHWH as your king.
  • Samuel, we want a king to rule over us.
  • Saul, a benjamanite, is anointed king by Samuel.
  • YHWH anoints you as king.
  • Long live the king!
  • Samuel tells Saul to attack Amalek and put a ban on them. Saul goes to Amalek but does not place the ban. This leads to YHWH rejecting Saul as king.
  • Eh, who cares about the ban.
  • We're supposed to put a ban on them, right?
  • YHWH asks Samuel to anoint a new king, and is sent to Jesse to anoint one of his sons. Samuel asks him to send his sons out one by one.
  • Here is the last son of mine, David, he is the youngest.
  • He is perfect, YHWH chooses him as king.
  • Jonathan, Saul's son, overhears Saul saying he is going to kill David. Jonathan warns David, but David stays for he is told YHWH will protect him. But Saul later pins David in attempt to kill him.
  • Oh my, I must flee.
  • David, I overheard my father talking, and he said he was going to kill you.
  • Saul goes into a cave to relieve himself. David sneaks up behind him, and cuts off a piece of his clothing to show Saul he could have killed him but chose not to.
  • Look Saul I could have killed you, yet I did not.
  • Oh David, you have proven you are actually a very nice man by sparing my life.
