Psyche, the most beautiful of her three sisters, is said to be more beautiful than Venus. This makes Venus jealous so she sends her son Cupid, the god of love, to make Psyche fall in love with a gruesome beast. But, when Cupid tries to strike Psyche with one of his arrows, he falls madly in love with her instead.
Psyche's family consults Apollo, who tells them that she is destined to marry a fearsome beast and she must be left at a summit. Psyche is unknowingly taken by Cupid to his palace instead. She falls in love with him but is never allowed to see him. When her sisters come to visit her, they are overcome by jealousy and convince Psyche that her husband will kill her if she doesn't kill him first.
Convinced that he will kill her, Psyche gets a lantern and a knife and approaches a sleeping Cupid. She is shocked to find that instead of a beast like she was expecting, she sees a handsome man. She spills hot oil on him which awakes him from his sleep.
Overcome with grief, Psyche goes to Venus and offers to become her servant in hopes of achieving mercy. Venus sends Psyche on a bunch of impossible tasks. Psyche receives help from other beings who take pity in her situation.
Although Cupid was trapped he broke through a window and he was on his way to find Psyche. She was outside the castle asleep due to one of the tasks Venus had gave her. Shocked by the sight he used his magic to awaken her. Without wasting time he marries Psyche, they had kids, and places the sleeping spell on Venus.
The Castle: The Castle where Psyche and Cupid stayed was their place of comfort.
