Storyboard Description

John and his dad make a stop for history, on their way to an NBA Finals game.

Storyboard Text

  • Dad. I thought we we're going to the Sixers - Warriors game. What's going on?
  • Since we're in Philly, I figured we should stop here at Independence Hall first
  • The Constitution is the highest law in the U.S.A.  All of our laws use it as a starting point. It defines the basic rights of the people.  It was written at this building, as was the Declaration of Independence.
  • The Constitution says that we should have 3 branches of government: the Executive (President); Legislative (Congress) and Judicial (Supreme Court). They are equal in power.
  • This is boring. What time is the game?
  •  My.Dad.Is.Still.Talking. And how did we get to D.C.?
  • The first ten amendments to the Constitution are called "The Bill of Rights"
  • It's a list of rights that belong to the people and it can't be interfered with by the government.
  • The Constitution can only be changed by an amendment. That doesn't happen often. There have only been 27 amendments in over 200 years.
  • Now he thinks he's Obama. We better get back to Philly before tipoff!
  • Like I always say, John. He who doesn't know his history, is doomed to repeat it. There are people trying to take away your rights. So know what they are.
  • I get it, dad. Thanks for the lecture. Now let's get to the game. And the flag background is corny!
