- Dana finally time travels to see Rufus fighting Isaac while Alice was hurt on the ground.
- Rufus is knocked out cold by Isaac. Isaac is confused about the appearance of Dana but Alice is happy seeing Dana. Dana persuades both of them to run while they still can. A theme here is the desire to escape.
- Rufus is conscious now and relived by Dana's appearance. He tells her why he tried to hurt Alice. Dana went to clean his bruises. Some themes here are facing the reality and children grow in their parents' footsteps.
- Rufus moves on to talking about how Alice and Isaac will come back. He also tries to get up but only gets pain in return. Dana noticed Rufus cares a lot for Alice.
- Dana decided to go get help for Rufus. Rufus is very demanding to Dana at this part, using words with contempt, as she is still a "slave".
- Now, Rufus agreed with Dana to tell another story of what happened to anyone who asks. Dana goes to the Weylin's home to get help.
- Rufus is a dynamic character as he has changed internally. The way he views females, especially black females, is different from his younger days. He is also becoming more of his father.
