Vinod? i thought... what are you doing here? shit.
Vinod looks hesitant and intimidated. (He is coming back after some time and is afraid of how people will react to him and his medical condition. This relates to what patients with mental illness go through every day.)
The falcon cannot hear the falconer. Things fall apart, the center cannot hold.
Yah. Remember? Turning and turning in the widening gyre. The falcon... er...
Vinod was ignored by student 1. Student 1 is a representation of how society perceive the mentally ill people.Vinod's reaction to student 1 after getting ignored: it shows that he was expecting this kind of treatment and reaction. He is used to it.This shows how the mentally ill people feel on a regular basis. They are trying to socialise with society but at the same time already have an expectation of getting ignored by them.
STOP APOLOGISING !!! (soft) Stop apologising
I'm not sure yet. I'm not even sure I'm going in.
Action: Charlie's unusual reaction shows that everyone knows about Vinod's illness. There were probably rumours spread about him being mental. This is really real as even up till now, the moment someone is declared mentally ill they are considered to be different from the rest and because of this they are often shunned.
Denise Joins in Conversation
Arts? I'm in Arts. Er...how exciting. What combination are you taking?
Vinod remembers the poetry that he had written a long time ago. This shows that he isn't different from the rest just because he is mentally ill. He is able to do literature and even excels in it, being mentally ill doesn't mean that they are lacking behind or even inferior to others.
They then talk about Johnson which the issue of being busy then comes up. Charlie apologises profusely. Charlie is really afraid of offending Vinod due to his mental illness. This may be a representation of how society labels mental ill patients which causes misunderstanding.
I'm sorry - Im really sorry-
The author/ director evokes tension in this scene by the tone the conversation between the character holds. Denises's tone is not only surprised but also slightly upset upon hearing Vinod is going to be in the same course as her. Her reaction may be so due to the fact that Vinod may be a mental patient and she is afraid that being in the same class as Vinod will allow her to spend more time with Vinod which she doesn't want.
