Thomas Galludet wants to teach Alice Cogswell, a Deaf child, how to communicate. Mason Cogswells, Alice's father, allows him to do so.
Galludet makes friends with Clerc
Galludet goes to England into a school called Braidwood Academy. Unfortunately the family who owns the school will only allow him to study under him if he agrees to stay for 5 years and he can't tell anyone of his findings.
Galludet and Clerc go to america
Then Galludet goes to Paris where he meets a hearing teacher named, Sicard. Sicard has taught 2 deaf students, who he has taught to communicate.
American school for the Deaf came to be
Galludet then asks one of Sicards Deaf students to come back with him to America.
Laurent Clerc agrees to go with Galludet to America. On the boat ride over Clerc and Galludet swap languages. Galludet learns French ASL and Clerc learns english
They make the first American School for the Deaf . Clerc became the first Deaf teacher. And for Alice, she became one of the very firsts students.
