Husking Bee explanation
At The House
Judith explains the Husking Bee to Kit, and how fun it actually is than it seems like. Judith and Mercy talk about the Red ear of corn. Kit doesn't really know what it is, but she has suspicions.
Leaving the house
Judith ahead. Kit and John meet while trying to do a task. They talk about how Kit visits the quaker, Hannah. John doesn't like how Kit visits a quaker. Kit explains how understanding she really is. Kit finds out John loves Mercy, and not Judith. John will see if he has the confidence to tell Mercy he loves her.
John tells Judith "There is something I want to speak to your father about." Judith thought he was courting her. John tries to tell her he was courting Mercy, but 'twas too late.
The Red Ear of Corn
"You saved me from being the most outrageous hussy,John. I had a scheme. I'm not sure I would have dared, actually." Judith said. John stood pale for a second. Now what would Kit do now she thought . Mercy would never ever forgive John or herself now if he hurts Judith. But off they went.
William lets Judith and John walk ahead. "I want to talk to you." says William. William did not mean to speak that night, but watching Judith and John made him think. about getting married. Kit's not ready.
Judith finds the red ear of corn. She says she doesn't need it, So she gives it to William. William chooses Kit, and she gets a smooch from William. Kit's face turns crimson red.
