European traders, missionaries, and explorers already started to settle and colonize in africa by the mid-1800´s.
By 1914 only 2 African Nations Ethiopia and Liberia remained free from European rule.
King Leopord II claimned a huge part of the Cong river as his own in 1884.
¨The delegates decided that there should be free trade and travel on both the Niger and Cong river.
The Berlin conference made it easier for European powers to take over Africa without fighting among themselves.
