Crispin was poor and lonely because his mother and father died. He was a wolf's head and was being chased by John Aycliffe, which made him scared. He was very shy and fearful in the beginning.
Then, Crispin met Bear, who helped crispin survive John Aycliffe. Bear knew something about Crispin that he didn't. He helped Crispin, and taught him music, survival skills, and history along the way. This made crispin curious, and determined throughout the story.
Crispin soon found out about Bear's secret, and knew he was lord Furnival's son. After dodging multiple attacks in the village they were staying at, Bear got captured. But Crispin saved him, and helped kill John Aycliffe. This shows that crispin became very daring and courageous, compared to the beginning of the story.
