When Cynthia Ann Parker war 9 she moved to central Texas with her parents, Lucy and Silas Parker. Shortly after she moved her family built Parker fort on the Navasota River.
While her family was working on their fort, Cynthia was one of the the victims of the Comanches attacks. The Comanches also took many as captives, including her.
Cynthia was held captive with her brother, john parker. She was captive for 25 years and forgot many white ways and traditions and became a Comanche.
Once Cynthia was aloud to be set free, she denied the offer because she did not want to leave her kids and husband. She also did not want to leave the Comanche ways she had adapted to.
