Exposition: Mae wakes up Tuck who is having a dream of where they are in heaven. Mae has to go visit her sons Jesse and Miles.

Rising Action: A girl named Winnie is in her yard and wonders what it's like out in the Wood while there a man in a yellow suit talks to her and wants to know if she or her family knows any families nearby. Later that night, she sneaks out into the Wood by herself.
Rising Action:While in the Wood Winnie meets a man named Jesse who was drinking from the spring, Winnie gets rather thirsty and wants to drink from the spring but Jesse for some reason stops her from doing so.

Rising Action: Out of nowhere Mae and her son Miles come and take Winnie away and try to bring her to their house, while they were doing that, the man in the yellow suit witnesses it happen.
Rising Action:Winnie arrives at their house and is introduced to Tuck and they tell her that they can live forever, she does not feel scared but rather at home while she is with them, while there Jesse tells her to drink the spring water when she's seventeen so that they both can get married, she stays there for a while and enjoys being there, they soon realize that their horse was stolen and it turns out the horse was stolen by the stranger.
Rising Action: The man in the yellow suit goes to Winnie's house and tells her family that he knows where she is
