In 1777 there was no war but George Washington and his man were freezing in the cold hardship during the winter. Many of them died of the because of diseases and starvation. A colonel John Brooks wrote " love of your Country" because the army stayed together.

In 1780 the British general Lord Cornwallis and Amercian were Francis Marion. The British won this battle because the Americans were in no good condition to fight. A band of Patriots from South Carolina approached Gates and said "Their number did not exceed 20 men and boy, somewhere white and some black, and all mounted, but most of them miserably equipped.
