  • In 1754 an argument started over who gets Ohio Valley. French wanted it for the beavers but the British became an easy target because of the red jackets. The war lasted for about 10 years. In 1760 French lost Canada and in 1763 Britain added 30 billion in debts.
  • The Stamp Act

  • After a while of fighting the war moved west. The Americans were scared of settelers and destroyed there forts. Nearly 2000 settlers died because of fighting. 
  • The Boston Massacre

  • Britain sent soldiers to the new world but had no where to stay. In 1765 a new law called the Quartering Act passed. The act said that colonists had to give British soldiers places to live, food, fuel, candles, and transportation. 
  • The Boston Tea Party

  • Britain had a problem where they needed to pay the soldiers and there debts. In 1765 they created the Stamp Act If you wanted to send anything like newspapers you are taxed. In March 1766 they repealed the law because of protesting.   
  • In 1770 the Colonist were still angry about the new Acts and  on March 5th, 1770 people protested nd started to cal a soldier names like lobster back and threw rocks and ice. Finally 8 more soldiers, one being Captain Thomas Preston, hurried over and pulled guns on the protestors but were just threatening the colonist's. Captain Preston said not to fire but one soldier said he heard fire and shot and killed five men and six more were wounded.     
  • After, the Boston Massacre Britain repealed all of the unpopular acts with the exception of  the tax on the tea. The Tea Act made the Colonist buy tea from only the company called British East Indian Company. The Colonists decided to protest on December 16, 1773 by dressing up as Native Americans and pour 90,000 pound of tea into the ocean. People in England were shocked and King George was furious.
