Welcome, imagen the Vietnam war has just ended, and you are travelling the seas in a small fishing boat to an American camp. this is exactly what these 2,000,000 people felt durnig their trip.
800,000 boats leave in 1975. due to the damage caused by the war. The country wanted to move becuase of the money, Vietnam were very poor at the time. Vietnams government was messy. meaning everyday about a thousand people left the country. The trips were usually about two weeks long but being on the boat it felt like an eternity. 10-70% of Vietnams boat people died out in sea.
during the war a huge missile was fired hitting the center of Vietnam. another reason why they left their country.
Fortunatly, America let the Vietnamese migraters use the American camps until the damage was fixed. They got given permission by the U.S.A governmant, to live in the states of Texas and Calafornia.
Also think about how scary it would of been on the boat. Travelling for 14 days out in sea with low rations, many people on board and possibly the boat sinking during the trip! Honstly I wouldn't want to know. Also an intresting fact is that every decade about two hundred to three hundred thousand Vietnamese people recomend to go to America since 1980-2017, isn't that insane.
Also the migration you may think it would only last for about a year. But no, it lasted for 20 years, from 1975-1995. to witness such a long migration is quite intresting. escpecially knowing how many boat people left a country all at the same time.
