Storyboard Text

  • Maya comes from a foreign country known as, Kazakhstan, where everything is way different than it is in America. "Maya and her family have come to the United States from Kazakhstan, a country in central Asia, that used to be apart of the Soviet Union." The citation demonstrates the difference between Maya and other American kids by showing how Maya comes from a different place where things are different.
  • Ted is assumed to be very introverted. "...the old-man seriousness he'd had as a baby, kept him contained..." The citation illustrates how Ted isn't really outgoing because of his mindset of an old-man.
  • Both characters are different, but at the same time, just alike.
  • They're different because Maya comes from a foreign country, while Ted does not.
  • However, they're just alike because even though they don't come from the same place, they share the same unique characteristics that cause them to stand out in their own way.
