- GEORGEBy Alex Gino
- My name is Melissa (Gino, 4).
- George reads her magazines and she looks in the mirror putting her hair down like bangs. As she looks again at the magazine cover, she knows that if the girls met her they would be best friends.
- What if I am (Gino, 90)?
- They're jerks. You're not a girl (Gino, 90).
- George and Kelly, her. best friend, decide to try out for their school play. The play is "Charlotte's Web." The teacher says the boys try out for the boys roles, while the girls try out for the girls roles. George wants to try out for Charlotte and begins practicing her part at Kelly's house. Kelly is surprised at how well George can act.
- George tries out for the role of Charlotte confidently, hoping that the teacher will let her be Charlotte. The teacher is confused and later tells her that she could be Wilbur or Templeton the rat, but it would be weird for George to play Charlotte.
- George comes out to Kelly after bullies at school were calling George a girl. Kelly says that she's not a girl. George feels uncomfortable and comes out to Kelly about how she feels that she is a girl. Kelly is very confused. This is George first big step in coming out as a girl.
- Later, Kelly come to terms with how George is a girl and now the are better friends then before. George and Kelly come up with an idea for george to play Charlotte. Kelly got the role, but during the final performance they switched costumes and George played Charlotte. The parents and students were very confused, but thought it was cool. They didn't know how George knew she was a girl.
- George comes out to her mom after the play, saying that she knows in her heart she's a girl. Her mom is confused saying this is just a faze, but after a long talk with George she comes to terms with it and how she has a daughter.
