  • The main setting of this novel took place in modern day Mexico and Texas.
  • An example of an external conflict that occurred within the book, was during the battle of the Alamo. In further detail, Hale states, “The legend is, Crockett fought to the end. After firing his last shot. He used his rifle like a club. His body was found surrounded by the corpses of sixteen enemies,” (Hale 110).
