  • And I am French. We have come to fish. Trade cod with us.
  • We are First Nations.

  • I'll give you two furs for a knife and one fur for a pan.

  • Phase 2 continued: The French-Haudenosaunee war began. On the French side there was Ouendat and the Anishinabe. On the Haudenosaunee side there was the British and the Dutch.

  • Phase 3: Middlemen have now appearerd onto the picture. We also have voyageurs
  • In this phase the French and the British have come to Canada to fish cod. They come to shore to dry their fish in drying stations called flakes.

  • Phase 4: In this phase two companies from both sides have
  • The French dominated the fur trade in this phase as you can see above they got the better trade. Quebec and Montreal became shipping centres of the fur trade. Coreur de bois emerged and Catholic missionairies have established missions amoung the First Nations.
