  • Pharaoh
  • I was pharaoh for 15 years, I started when I was 8!
  • Goverment officials
  • Everyone come to the banquet tonight! We will be having lots of yummy food!
  • Priests
  • I have to go shower for my 3rd time today! And I still have to shower later too.
  • The pharaoh was at the top of the social pyramid of ancient Egypt. Their job was to rule the land. They collected taxes, and oversee the building of temples and monuments.
  • Scribes
  • Which scroll do I have to grab again? Is it the one for taxes or laws?
  • I told you LAWS!! You are 10 years old why can you not listen?
  • Goverment officials advised the pharaoh, collected taxes, and was a military commander. In their free time they held banquets and wore fancy clothing like headresses, had perfume, and wore fancy jewelry.
  • Artisans
  • This is my ninth day without food and I am starving!
  • Priests were the third one the social pyramid. Priests advised the pharaohs, oversaw temples, and they gave advice, they healed, and they mummified people.
  • Peasants
  •  What did you have for dinner? I had fish.
  • Same. I heard the pharaoh ate roasted duck, with figs!
  • Scribes were 4th on the social pyramid. They wrote records for court cases, taxes, grain, etc. They had to learn over 700 symbols and started at 5 years old. After they were adults and they became scribes, they were well paid.
  • Artisans were 5th on the social pyramid. They were mostly jewelers, Carpenters, sculptors, painters, potters, etc. They worked 10 days before they were bale to take off. They also mainly depended on their employers for food, so when the food supply is low they usually are often hungry.
  • And paid They ate fish and vegetabkes The peasants were at the very bottom of the social pyramid. They had to grow food for the kingdom, and they build monuments designed by artisans. They ate fish and vegetables, and they paid taxes in food.
