  • THE RUPERT’S LAND OWNED BY THE GOVERNMENT WAS TRANSFERRED TO A FUR TRADING AREA OWNED BY THE HUDSON’S BAY COMPANY. AFTER THAT, THE HBC WITHDREW IT’S RULE OF RUPERT’S LAND AND NO LONGER OWNED THE RUPERT’S LAND

  • AFTER THAT, SURVEYORS WERE SENT BY JOHN MACDONALD TO EXPLORE THE RED RIVER WHICH WILL BE DIVIDED BETWEEN THE MÉTIS AND THE NEW WEST SETTLERS. LOUIS RIEL SENT THE SURVEYORS BACK.
  • IN 1869, THE MÉTIS CAPTURED PRISONERS AND IMPRISONED THEM IN FORT GARRY BECAUSE THEY NEEDED THE GOVERNMENT’S ATTENTION. AFTER THAT IN 1870, THE PRISONERS WERE SET FREE, BUT SOME OF THEM WERE RECAPTURED AND THOMAS SCOTT, YOUNG HOTHEAD WHO WANTED TO KILL LOUIS RIEL WAS ONE OF THEM. LATER ON, HE WAS EXECUTED BY THE MÉTIS
  • WE SOLD THE LANDS AND MOVED FURTHER WEST!!!
  • RIEL CAME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH OTTAWA. AFTER THAT, A SMALL PROVINCE CALLED “MANITOBA” APPEARED FOR PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF THE MÉTIS
  • TROOPS WERE SENT OUT TO THE RED RIVER, ESPECIALLY FOR CAPTURING RIEL
  • THE MÉTIS NOTICED SOMETHING AND ENDED UP SELLING LANDS TO THE THE NEW OTTAWA SETTERS, AND THEY MOVED FURTHER WEST
