  • Introduction
  • Hi my name is Kaiden. Today we will learn about the Civil War and travel through it too.
  • Cause of the War
  • Behind me is a slave plantation. This is where slaves worked. Slavery was the main reason the war was fought.
  • Start of the War
  • The Civil War began when the south (grey) attacked Fort Sumter.
  • The Civil War was important because it was a matter of slavery and freedom. If the confederate states won the war, then the U.S. would become a slave country. If the union won, then slaves would be granted freedom. This war divided America into the North and South.
  • Union War Efforts
  • The Civil War was fought because the north wanted to free slaves and the south wanted to continue it. The south was only trying to continue their practices but the north though it was wrong for them to do so. This separated the north and the south. The Missouri Compromise made this official because it drew an imaginary line that separated the north and south.
  • Confederacy War Efforts
  • On April 12, 1861, the confederacy attacked Fort Sumter. This attack started the war. Fort Sumter was in South Carolina, which at the time became an outpost in a foreign land. The confederacy took this opportunity to attack the union and start the war.
  • Legacy of the War
  • The Union's war efforts included spreading the truth about slavery. Thanks to these efforts, Abraham Lincoln was able to be elected. As a result of Lincoln's election, many southerners feared him. 7 states then seceded from the nation and became the Confederate States of America.
  • The union's war efforts included spreading the truth about slavery and how cruel it was.
  • The Confederacy's war efforts included seceding from the nation and starting the Confederate States of America. They eventually tried to convince Texas, which had a lot of fertile land, to join them in secession from the nation. If they had Texas' fertile land, it would increase slavery because of the work needed to be done.
  • The confederacy's war efforts included many states seceding from the country and even trying to persuade Texas to join them.
  • The legacy of the Civil War was to determine if the U.S. would become a nation that has slavery or a nation that is free. Because of the Union's victory, people today have their own rights and are owned by nobody. However, if the Confederacy were to win, it would most likely be a different story today. Many people might still be enslaved. There may not have even been the technology we have today because slaves had no right to education. That is the legacy of the Civil War.
  • The legacy of the Civil War was to determine if the U.S. would be a slave country or a free country.
