Late one night the narrator is sitting in his chamber reading to forget his sorrow for Lenore when he hears a knocking sound at his door.
The raven continues to only say "nevermore" the narrator begins to get mad at the raven because he isn't getting the answers he wants. He asks the raven three questions, was the raven sent by the angels, was it sent by the devil, and did Lenore go to heaven. The raven only answers with "Nevermore."
The narrator begins screaming at the raven to go away, in the end the narrator accepts his fate that the raven will never go away and he will never get over his sorrow for Lenore.
