i am Constantine the Great. right now, i am by the Theodosian Walls.
the Theodosian Walls, Hagia Sophia, and many other Roman artifacts are all located within the trade routes between Europe and Asia.
after the Western Roman Empire fell, i decided it would be best to move the capital.
i decided to move capital to Byzantium.
this is the Bosporus Strait. it was very important because it formed a barrier around Asia and Turkey. it also connected to the Black Sea.
the Byzantine empire was very wealthy. the reason they were so wealthy was because they were the center of the trade route. they sold silk, wine, spices, perfumes, grain, olives, and gold.
