  • The book Unwanteds takes place in a distopian world were no one is allowed to be creative or different. Children whom grow up to be creative (Unwanteds) are sent to be killed. But those who aren´t (Wanteds) go to work or college. The story is based upon the story of two twins, Alex and Aaron.
  • Rising Action
  • Aaron rises goes to college and gets involved with politics in Quill. He climbs through the ranks of Quillś political ladder to eventually become a trusted member of the evil Queen Justine. Aaron yearns for power and approval and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
  • Climax
  • Alex and the other Unwanteds are surprised to learn that they would not be executed, instead they were taken to the secret kingdom of Artime. Not even known to Queen Justine. Artime is a magical school and home for all Unwanteds. Creative children learn to use magic from living statues. Artime is looked over by the kind wizard Mr.Today. Alex makes many friends at Artime and starts to grow attached to Artime and find a sense of courage.
  • Falling Action/Resolution
  • Alex falls in love with Artime, but there is still sad that his brother which he loves dearly isn´t with him. So Alex makes a secret magic doorway to Alex´s dorm so that Aaron may join Alex in Artime. But when Alex invites his brother, Aaron refuses and tells Queen Justine of the treachery in Quill.
  • Full of anger Queen Justine gathers the army of Quill in order to destroy Artime and kill all the Unwanteds. Artime must then prepare it´s many students with magical spells for an all out battle against Quill. Then finally the battle ensues. Artime vs Quill.
  • Thankfully when the dust clears, Artime has won. Queen Justine and her general were dead, but this was at a price. Many students were killed in the battle including one of Alex´s closest friends Meghan. Alex and his friends were devastated. Aaron was used as a scapegoat for Queen Justine´s failure and death. He was shunned by all those of Quill. Aaron was full of rage and swore revenge against his brother.
