  • The Battle of Britain was on July 10th, 1940 in London, England. During the war, Germany was bombing Britain. They were going to invade Britain. Germany found out that they would have to fight against Britain's air force.

  • The Battle of Pearl Harbor was on December 7th, 1941 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the Pacific Ocean. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with no warning. The U.S. ended up winning this battle and the Japanese thought this would be a good idea but the U.S. declared war on Japan.
  • The Battle of Midway was on June 4th, 1942 on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The U.S. attacked Japan and Japan attacked the U.S. back. The U.S. tried to do torpedo attacks but the Japanese fought them off. Then Japanese bombs sunk Japanese ships which resulted in the U.S. winning.
  • The Battle of Stalingrad lasted from 1942 to February 2nd, 1943 on Southwest Russia on the Volga River. German air forces bombed Stalingrad and the Volga River and took a large portion of land but the Soviet troops didn't give up. They hid and ambushed German soldiers all over Stalingrad which overwhelmed the Germans which resulted in the Soviet Union winning.
  • D-Day was on June 6th, 1944, north of the coast of Normandy, France/Omaha and Utah beaches. Germany invaded France and tried to take over all of Europe but the U.S. and Britain were able to slow the Germans down. The Allies went offensive and were going to invade Germany. The Germans knew it was coming but they didn't know when and where so the Allies made a distraction which worked and made the Germans less prepared. The Allied pushed Germany out of France and won this battle.
  • The Battle of the Bulge happened early in the morning on December 16, 1944 in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium. Germany attacked the center of the Allied forces' line. The weather was snowy and cold so the Americans weren’t ready for the attack. The Germans broke through the line and killed thousands of American troops and tried to advance quickly. Although the Germans were overwhelming the Allies, many American soldiers held their ground until more U.S. troops could arrive which gave the Allies the advantage and they won.
