  • Most followers of Hinduism live in India. Hinduism was also started in India.
  • The sacred site of Hinduism is the Ganges River. People go there to purify their souls and to be released from rebirth.
  • The sacred text of Hinduism is the Vedas, and the sacred symbol is the Om. The Om is the sound made during prayers, rituals, and mantras. 
  • The main celebration of Hinduism is Holi, a festival that celebrates good over evil and the beginning of spring.
  • Hindus believe in one god whose qualities are represented by various other divinities. Brahma is creativity. Vishnu is sustainability, and Shiva is destructivity. Hindus belive in reincarnation, karma, and dharma.
  • Hinduism developed among the cultures in India as they spread out over the pains and forests of the subcontinent. It has no single founder or founding date.
