- The choices we make impact who we become in the future. I think this is the theme because when Jimmy decided to turn Bob in he had a hard time because Bob was his best pal but he knew he had to becuase it was going to impact the future of his carrer so he wrote Jimmy a note saying Bob: I was at the appointed place on time. When you struck the match to light your cigar I saw it was the face of the man wanted in Chicago. Somehow I couldn’t do it myself, so I went around and got a plain clothes man to do the job. JIMMY.” (O.Henry, paragraph 33)
- This story shows situational irony I think this because in the story when Silky Bob thinks that he is going to meet his friend Jimmy his friend actaully arrested him. The author shows this when Bob gets a note and it says “Bob: I was at the appointed place on time. When you struck the match to light your cigar I saw it was the face of the man wanted in Chicago. Somehow I couldn’t do it myself, so I went around and got a plain clothes man to do the job. JIMMY.” (O.Henry, paragraph 33)
