  • The main setting in Breadwinner is town. and the marketplace. (Ellis 2) This is where Parvana works to get money for her family.

  • The biggest conflict is where the Taliban breaks into Parvana's families house and threatens them. (Ellis 34)

  • Courage is the main theme for this book. As Paravana along with her mother and siblings handled their extrememe circumstances in a war torn city, they had courage that her father would be out of prison and be able to come home.
  • The biggest social issue in this book is how the Taliban is really strict and is making lots of people who live in Afghanistans life tougher for them. It makes Parvana's life a lot harder for her family because they took her dad away.
  • The present symbolizes how every day a woman would leave a little gift for Parvana on her pillow on her blanket in town.
