During the Election of 1800 Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr tie with 73 electoral votes. It then went to the house and Hamilton to decide. Thomas Jefferson won the election and became the 3rd President for US.
Thomas Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican. He believed in a strict interpretation of the constitution as well as everyone should have the right to vote. Another Democratic-Republican belief was that farming was major for the economy.
Some major events that occurred during Jefferson's presidency was Marbury vs Madison which established Judicial review. As well as Hamilton vs Burr duel. The most significant event during Thomas leadership was the Louisiana purchase which almost doubled the size of the US. Another major event was the Embargo act of 1807.
The Embargo act had to be put in place in order to remain Neutral during France and Britain's war. It was where the US ceased trade with all foreign countries. Then the Non-Intercourse act ended the Embargo act and made it to where the US could trade with foreign countries except Britain and France.
Thomas Jefferson almost doubled the size of the US.
Thomas Jefferson kept the US out of wars and kept the neutrality.
Created a Democratic, non-aristocratic government.
