The story starts out with George and Hazel sitting on the couch and watching TV. They are watching ballerinas dance. They are beginning to discuss how Hazel has no mental handicap. The text states, " The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. Everyone in society was the same, there was no difference."
The rising action begin when Harrison escapes from jail. The text states, " ...should be regarded as extremely dangerous." The reader does not expect Harrison to show such vigilance. The unpredictability of this event is what creates the rising action.
I found the climax of the story to be when Harrison declares himself emperor on live television. He breaks into the set and everyone is overcome with fear. People wince and cringe. The text states, " I am the emperor! Everyone must of what I say."
The falling action in this story is when the emperor and empress were killed. They were shot by Diana Moon Glampers, the handicapper general. The text states that," She came into the studio with a double barreled ten gauge shotgun." This text evidence shows the caliber of gun she used and contributes to understanding what happened to the emperor and empress.
The resolution in this stories when everything goes back to normal. Hazel and George have forgotten about what happened. The text states, " I forgot. Something real sad on television." This shows how they forgot and moved on with their lives.
