  • This project is by: Abbey mirando, Kaelin liveily, and kiara kirkman 1.What is silent trade? Silent trade is trading without contact 2.Who used silent trade: West africa 3.Why was silent trade used? Silent trade was used to avoid conflict 4.Where did silent trade take place? People used trade in north and west africa
  • The craftsmen sold their goods, Iron-smiths sold weapons and tools, goldsmiths and coppersmithes sold jewelry
  • The caravans arrived bringing wool, silk, cotton,  dates, figs, grains, leather and salt. They spread out their goods along the river
  • The traders beat on an oat drum to announce that they were making an offer to trade goods
  • Then they walk several miles away from the site. When the wangarans heard the drum, they traveled to the site by boat
  • They put some gold dust next to the goods beat the drum and left later the traders return and leave more gold dust
