Storyboard Text

  • In President Johnson's Writing Room...
  • I need to create a few new rules. I shall make a few amendments! I believe I can make 3 to fill up the cracks!
  • The Thirteenth Amendment
  • All slaves have been freed!
  • The Fourteenth Amendment
  • This man is innocent!
  • The President will put down some amendments, or laws, to the Constitution to change some things in the country
  • The Fifteenth Amendment
  • Lets see... I think we need to abolish slavery, make sure no confederate generals take power, and give all men the right to vote
  • Next to vote!
  • The Thirteenth Amendment outlawed slavery in all states. This freed the slaves from the south.
  • Reaction
  • These amendments are pretty good!
  • The Fourteenth Amendment guaranteed law equality for all U.S. citizens. It also ruled that no Confederate Leader could run for a political position in office.
  • Ending
  • I guess my job is done!
  • The Fifteenth Amendment gave all male citizens the right to vote. This included males without property and black males.
  • The amendments settled down the public from rioting and impeaching Johnson. It also helped in the segregation movement.
  • Yeah!
  • This is how the amendments came to be. President Johnson was able to bring peace.
