Hello, my name is Aila and this is my family. We are a family of three and I am the only child. In the back here is my house, located here in Islamabad, Pakistan. My father and mother are very religious and always make sure we follow the muslim culture.
One day my father had come home very disappointed and gloomy.“I have the worst news.” He said. My mother and I started to worry about what could have happened. “I lost my job.” He said.
After my father had lost his job, we went broke and had to leave from Pakistan. So we moved to the United States. It was extremely hard for me to leave everything behind.
Moving to the U.S wouldn’t be easy. It would completely change my entire life and everything will be very different. The schools, houses, roads, and everything will not be the same as it was in Pakistan. But moving here was the only choice.
As the years went by I realized that it takes time for things to happen. For example, when I first moved here, kids at school would discriminate me for wearing the hijab. So I stopped wearing the hijab and realized that I could still wear it at home. Later on I made new friends.
My life had completely changed after moving to the United States. I loved my new friends and my new school. I got used to living here even though I need a little more practice in English. My life was a journey that I would experience over and over.
