After the French and British War 1765, The British needed a lot of money really badly because they were in great debt. They didn't have much funds. Therefore they imposed taxes on people. Specifically the colonies in America. Many Americans who had to do business with paper printing would suffered greatly.
The Stamp act was repealed on March 18 in 1766. Many people were outraged because many wealthy Americans were taken away from the colonies. Many Americans who were lawyers and had a high role would often suffer greatly. This would make the British repeal this act. This was a big step and the first step towards separating the British and Americans.
The British had other ways they were going to tax the Americans. They have gotten this idea from Charles Townshend, He was the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The British started taxing different things for example various foods and other necessities. This did upset the Americans again.
