Calpurnia takes the kids to church and sticks up for them. "Its the same god aint it" says calpurnia page 158 chapter 12
Another part of the book that shows courage is when boo Radley saves Scout from being attacked by Bob Ewell. "Why there he is, Mr Tate, he can tell you his name. As I half pointed to the man in the corner..." pg 362 chapter 29
Another example of courage is when a threatening dog is in the neighborhood and Atticus is left no choice but to shoot the wild dog. "With movements to swift they seemed simultaneous, Atticus hand yanked a ball tipped lever as he brought the gun to his shoulder. The rifle cracked, Tim Johnson leaped. Flopped over and crumpled on the sidewalk...." pg 127 chapter 10
Atticus shows courage when he takes Tom Robinsons case even when he knows he will be judged and the odds will be held against him. He sees behind color and fights a great fight. "The one place where a man ought to get a square deal is in a courtroom, be he any color of the rainbow, but people have a way of carrying their resentments right into a jury box." (23.38-40)
Tom Robinson is a good example of a mocking bird because hes an innocent soul who did no harm and died for no reason. He wasn't guilty and it should be a crime letting him die and be guilty of being so innocent.
Boo Radley is a good example of a mockingbird because he never bothers anyone and it would be wrong for him to be brought to the light and been put out there as a hero. He does no harm and is better off left alone.
