Storyboard Text

  • "I'll come back tomorrow sir, unless there is something I can do to help."
  • "Please Jonas, take some of the pain. Put your hands on me."
  • Jonas was about to go home but he saw the giver upset with his face in his hands he asked if there was anything he can do to help.
  • "W-water water"
  • The giver was suffering, he was asking for help. Jonas helped him to the bed and sat him down. The giver was telling Jonas to put his hands on him and Jonas did. And then Jonas has entered the memory that was torturing the giver.
  • When Jonas entered the memory he was in a confused, noisy and smelly place. But everywhere around Jonas of what seemed like a field, lay groaning men.
  • "Forgive me Jonas."
  • Jonas heard a voice next to him. He was whispering "water." Jonas turned his head to see a boy who seemed close to Jonas age. The boy was filled with fresh blood. The boy kept on begging for water. But then Jonas realized that his arm was in pain, his bone was popping out of his arm. He tried his other arm to get a metal container.
  • Jonas gave the boy the metal container filled with water. Jonas put the container next to the boys' lips. The boy took a sip of the water and his head fell back if he was surprised. And after that, he was silent. But Jonas was still laying on the floor in pain. He could hear cannons and people dying. Now he knew what warfare meant.
  • Jonas couldn't handle the pain anymore and he couldn't stand death. Jonas opened his eyes and he was on the bed again. The giver felt guilty of the memory he gave to Jonas.
