Storyboard Text

  • This water does not have a set shape, but there is a set amount of area it takes up. Water is a liquid.
  • States of Matter
  • You can not see the air but it is there. There is not a set shape or how much room it takes up. The air is a gas.
  • This tree has a set shape. It is a solid.

  • Matter is everything that has mass and it can take many different shapes and forms. These are called the states of matter. There are three main kinds, solids, liquids, and gases. Solids are solid objects that have a set shape like the tree. Liquids are things like water that do not have a set shape but have a set volume. Gases can often not be seen, like the air on the beach. These do not have a shape or set amount.
  • Relative Density
  • Magnets are a fun way to play with magnetism. Magnetism is the pull of magnets caused by electricity. Magnets have electricity in them, but a very low amount. For magnetism, opposites move closer and the same sides push each other away. That's why it is harder to push the same sides than it is different sides.
  • Solubility
  • Conductivity is when a heat source makes another object warmer through touching it. When someone makes food and the pan gets hot, that is because it is touching the stove. The stove is the heat source and the pan is conductive. That means that it can heat up easier.
  • Mass
  • A
  • B
  • Density is how compact the matter of an object is. This can affect how it floats on or in water or other liquids. If there is more matter packed into a super small area, it is more dense. If there is not a lot of matter in a large area, it is less dense.
  • Solubility means how much can be dissolved into a certain amount of liquid. Sea water has plenty of salt and other things dissolved in it. The amount of salt that oceans can dissolve is their solubility.
  • Salt and other components have dissolved into the sea water even though you can't see it.
  • Mass is how hard gravity is pulling on a certain group of matter. Weight and mass are different though. Mass can change based on the area around it but weight can not.
  • 100 kg
  • 63 kg
