I'm sorry Charlie but you didn't pass any of your tests.
Charlie is a mentally challenged 37 year old living in New York. All of his life, he has wanted to become smart.
You can't work here.
Charlie is frustrated by the inkblots and the maze race against Algernon. Even though he tries his best, he still can't seem to pass.
So as I was saying, Dorbermann's Fifth Concerto...
After taking numerous tests, Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur decide to use him in an experiment to "triple his intelligence by surgical means".
Charlie is finally smart and thinks he'll fit in but people continue to exclude him. He gets fired after 840 people sign a petition for him to leave. They don't trust him since he becomes intelligent all of a sudden.
About two weeks later, Charlie has dinner with Miss Kinnian and she can't believe the person he's become. His mind has changed tremendously since she last saw him. Charlie begins to realize people are treating him completely different now.
Just a few days after showing unusual behavior, Algernon passes. The news causes Charlie to realize the relation he had with the mouse, and what it might mean for him.
